Carolyn Blackmon 500 HR Certified Yoga Teacher | 60 HR Certified Trauma-Informed Yoga Instructor | Workshop

Description

I began exploring Yoga eleven years ago after my Grandfather started chair yoga classes to help him with his limited mobility due to a stroke and other health concerns. Yoga became a big part of his life by helping him find his mind-body connection and movement that his body needed to carry on each day as best as he could. He encouraged me to try Yoga as well, and I fell in love with the practice.

Over the last decade, I have practiced all types of Yoga and find that I heal, find community, rest my mind, and nourish my body through this practice. I went to Hawaii during the Summer of 2017 and completed my 200 Therapeutic Yoga Teacher Training Certification through Soma Yoga Institute, intending to progress my practice. I began teaching in the fall of 2017. I then finished my 300 Hour Therapeutic Yoga Teacher Training in the fall of 2019 through Soma Yoga Institute. During the first half of my immersion, I earned my Yin Yoga certification as well. I recently graduated from a 60 Hour Trauma-Informed Yoga Teacher Training through Soul Work. In addition to this training, I lead Guided Meditations, Yoga Nidra, Yin Yoga, and Restorative Yoga.
I enjoy teaching in unique places such as parks, farmers’ markets, and Holiday Yoga classes! For Journey Beyond A Holistic Center, I lead workshops in collaboration with other teachers and healers based in Trauma Healing. I enjoy teaching Mindful Movement and making Yoga easily accessible while sharing wisdom through themes and incorporating encouragement throughout my classes for my students.

My passions include traveling, volunteering, hiking, eating vegan/vegetarian food, spending quality time with friends and family, listening to all kinds of music, journaling, connecting people, listening to and being interviewed on podcasts, taking care of people’s pets, nannying, and of course Yoga!
