Gila Shire, LMT | Nurse | RYT | Dula | Holistic and Traditional Therapeutic Services.
With a 14-year background in nursing, I always loved to work with people.
After I moved from Germany to Phoenix in 1997, I became a certified massage therapist and worked with private clients, most of them regulars. When I began yoga, my life gained a dynamic new dimension. In 2002, I started my training with Martin and Jordan Kirk and registered with the Yoga Alliance. Since then, I have been teaching in the Valley at several yoga studios and with private students. In the spring of 2007, I completed Inner Vision’s advanced 500-hour yoga teacher training program with Jeff Martens, Kat Myers, Aaron Goldberg, and Michele Dante. I also am certified through Judith Lasater as a ‘Relax and Renew’ teacher, specializing in restorative yoga.
As a seasoned teacher, Alignment and the healing/therapeutic approach are crucial elements of my classes (especially since my own experience with a back injury), accompanied by thoughtfully chosen themes, music, and readings.
I love to guide people to combine the beauty they bring to their mats with the wisdom, knowledge, and inspiration of yoga.
My classes are designed for all levels to meet the student’s individual needs, providing space for growth, soulful exploration, holistic networking, and community.
My passion as a birth keeper/doula brings everything I have learned over three decades into a full circle. It combines my hospital & nursing work, the natural birth experience of my daughter Talisa in 1991, which inspired me onto the holistic path, and my passion for health and life. I offer these valuable tools to women and their families to support them at their most unforgettable, sacred & natural event they deserve; Giving birth, which is a true celebration and a rite of passage.
